Supplies Needed for this Turkey Craft

Instructions to Make Turkey Craft with Printable Template

Step 1

Download & print the turkey template on card stock:

Step 2

Cut out the turkey template pieces with scissors.

Step 3

Glue the scraps of the paper bag ripped into small pieces to the sides of the can. Then, coat that with glue.

Step 4

When the glue dries, add the wings.

Step 5

Paint the can turkey body and the wings brown.

Step 6

Paint the feet, tail feathers, and the beak orange. 

Let dry.

Step 7

Next, fold the beak, and glue half of the beak down so that your turkey has a mouth.

Step 8

Glue googly eyes, and paint some eyebrows over them with orange paint.

Materials

  • Free Thanksgiving Turkey Template Printable (see step 1 below)
  • Cardstock – to print the turkey template
  • Clean Tin Can
  • Orange Paint
  • Brown Paint
  • Googly Eyes
  • Paper Bag – Rip it into pieces

Tools

  • Scissors or preschool training scissors
  • Glue

Instructions

  1. Download and print the printable turkey template on cardstock paper – grab your free turkey craft template in the article.
  2. Using scissors, cut out the turkey pieces from the turkey craft template.
  3. Make sure the tin can is clean, has one end removed and there are no sharp edges – use masking tape or duct tape to cover edges if irregular or bumpy.
  4. Tear the paper bag into small scraps with irregular edges.
  5. Coat the tin can’s outside with a layer of glue and then cover that glue with the torn paper pieces.
  6. Coat the torn paper pieces once layered on the tin can with another layer of glue.
  7. Let glue dry.
  8. Add the turkey template wings.
  9. Paint the turkey body including the wings brown.
  10. Paint the turkey template pieces of beak and feet orange and let dry.
  11. Glue the beak and feet onto the brown painted turkey body.
  12. Add turkey facial details including the googly eyes.
